Potential Caller ID Spoofing Scam

In the last 24-48 hours, a few members have received fraudulent phone calls from a number appearing to be First Florida Credit Union. The caller claims to be an employee of our Member Service Team, and asks the member to review some potentially fraudulent debit or credit card transactions. After providing some false transaction information to our members, the caller asks for the member to provide the CVV number on the back of their card in order to block it. The scammer then uses this information to conduct fraudulent transactions.

This appears to be a “Caller ID Spoofing” scam. Fraudsters use technology to send outgoing phone calls that appear to be from one phone number while hiding their true identity.

Your information security is one of our top priorities. First Florida Credit Union will never make an outbound call to ask you for your personal information, including your debit or credit card numbers, CVV code, account number, social security number, etc. If you receive any communication asking you to provide this information, it is a scam.

If you receive any phone calls like the one described above, please hang up and contact First Florida to report this as fraud.
