Special Message from the CEO

I hope this message finds you well.

Nothing could have prepared us for the jarring realities of COVID-19 that we’ve all come to call our “new norm.” Like you, I am also adjusting to these unprecedented times. 

For many, we are being impacted in ways we have not experienced in our lifetime. These changes have pushed us to evolve, adapt, and engage differently. Though, the one thing that remains unchanged is First Florida’s mission to provide trusted financial services to our members. It is what we do every day, and a time of challenge is no different. 

I can say with confidence that First Florida is one of the strongest credit unions in the country, and we stand prepared for any challenge. We are financially and operationally strong. We have an incredible, dedicated team of employees who have, as always, proven to be invaluable and continue to be one of the essential parts of our operation. 

Even in uncertain times, we know making financial decisions continues to be a part of our lives. From everyday banking to getting the financing you need to move forward, First Florida is here for you. 

Our branches remain operational through drive-thru service as we continue to use every precaution to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Our Member Support Center also remains fully operational.

While we continue to stay safe and do our part, we want to remind you to utilize our Digital Banking Services for secure and convenient access to your accounts at any time from your mobile device, computer, or tablet. Our online services also provide a convenient way for you to apply for a loan or open an additional account.  

Playing an active role in our communities is equally important to First Florida. We have witnessed the good of humanity in these uncertain times, and First Florida is proud to stand with our communities in support. 

Local Strong initiative to give back

We recently supported a grassroots #LocalStrong campaign to keep small businesses alive and community members thriving. Each of our staff members throughout our locations received a $25 gift certificate to give to someone in need, support a local business, or support a non-profit in their community. We were touched by the thoughtfulness of our employees and the creative ways they chose to give.

We’ve also elected to participate in CU Cares, a donation-based effort by Southeastern Credit Union Foundation to support local charities in our communities throughout Florida. Our employees received funds to donate to a charity of their choosing. It is truly an honor to give to others. Pulling together to accomplish this has been a humbling experience.

As we start to plan for re-opening our branches to lobby traffic, our focus will continue to be the safety of our members, staff, and communities we serve. We appreciate your patience if we limit the number of members in a branch at one time. We will utilize barrier systems such as Plexiglas and other resources to minimize the risk of contact with individuals. Lastly, we will continue to follow the most recent protocols from the CDC and the health industry to operate in a safe environment.  

We know the strength of our organization would not be what it is today without the support of our members. We never forget that it’s a symbiotic relationship. We are grateful for our members’ confidence in our organization and are honored to continue to provide trusted financial solutions during this time.
