5 Staycation Ideas for Summer Fun

Plans for summer vacation look much different this year among the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, you can still make the most of your summer with these fun, safe, and creative staycation ideas.

Find Local Unchartered Territory
You may have lived in one place for a long time, but chances are you have not explored every park, trail, campsite, attraction, historical site, waterway, or restaurant in the area. Pretend you are a tourist in your city. Do a little research, find a spot that you haven’t visited, and make it your mission to see more.

Explore Outdoor Activities
Florida is mostly surrounded by water and opportunities to enjoy beach days, boating, jet-skiing, surfing, or paddle-boarding. All relatively inexpensive and convenient ways to keep a safe distance from others while having fun.

Florida offers some of the most beautiful natural springs in the nation. It is also home to three national parks and many beautiful state parks with outdoor camping and waterways. Many of these places can be visited in day trips or made into overnight camping trips.

No matter where you live, there are unique outdoor experiences within reach. Find your state’s tourism guide online and take advantage of the resources.

Small Home Projects
There is nothing more rewarding than pursuing a home project that will bring you joy year-round. Try tackling something that you can complete in a day or two, like building a garden box, adding new plants inside and outside of your home, repainting a room, adding new lighting, or bringing more organization to your space.

Create a Global Culinary Experience at Home
Traveling the globe may be a little too risky right now, but we can bring the fun of global food to our table. Create special evenings at home by creating traditional dishes from other countries. You can easily do this by following a recipe or taking an online cooking class. Be creative! Turn your culinary adventure into an outdoor picnic in the back yard or a nearby park.

Indulge in a Creative Retreat
A staycation is still time away from work to focus on you. If you want to tap into your creative nature, think about what interests you. Perhaps you might enjoy writing, painting, photography, or a bit of everything. Gather the resources you need, find a few tutorials or online classes, and use your downtime to let your creative side blossom. It’s that easy!
