Award is First Florida's second national recognition in two years.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – First Florida Credit Union recently received a 2017 Diamond Award from the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) for Project Plus, the successful branding campaign the organization used to roll out its merger with Florida Baptist Credit Union.

Diamond Awards recognize exceptional marketing and business development achievements in the credit union industry. This was First Florida’s second such award in two years, and it was the only Jacksonville-based credit union to be honored.

The goals of Project Plus were to encourage member approval of the merger, demonstrate merger benefits and adjustments both internally and externally, and inform employees how to best communicate with members during the process, said Michelle Troha, senior vice president of marketing at First Florida Credit Union.

“Our Project Plus campaign met our main objective as 92 percent of voting members were in favor of the merger,” Troha said. “It was especially gratifying to see the campaign receive recognition from CUNA and our peers for its creativity.”

Diamond Awards winners were presented at the CUNA Marketing and Business Development Council Conference held on March 29 – April 1 in San Antonio, Texas. More than 1,100 entries were submitted by credit unions across the country as they competed for awards in some 30 categories ranging from branding to financial education.
