First Florida Named One of State's Best Places to Work

Only credit union to earn distinction in this year's Florida Trend list.

For Immediate Release: July 26, 2017

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – First Florida Credit Union is among the 100 Best Companies to Work For in Florida, according to Florida Trend magazine’s ninth annual statewide survey. The company is the only credit union to earn the distinction this year.

First Florida Credit Union is proud to be recognized among the 37 companies in the survey’s midsize category, which includes businesses with between 50 and 249 employees working in Florida, said Michelle Troha, senior vice president of marketing at First Florida Credit Union.

“First Florida Credit Union works to build and maintain a positive environment that fosters professional and personal growth for our employees,” Troha said. “We recognize our employees are the cornerstone of our organization, which is why we emphasize open communication and employee satisfaction.”

Companies that participate in the Best Companies to Work for in Florida program are evaluated on their workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The judging process also includes a survey to measure employee satisfaction. The combined scores determine the top companies and the final rankings.

“What’s clear from our list is that amenities like free lunch or a game room at the workplace are not the things that make a great workplace,” said Florida Trend Executive Editor Mark Howard. “Those amenities are just part of the way companies reflect their cultures. It’s the culture of the company and the company’s ability to hire people who understand and embody the culture that create a great workplace.”

Endorsed by the HR Florida State Council, the Best Companies to Work for In Florida program was created by Florida Trend and Best Companies Group. Best Companies Group managed the registration, survey and analysis and determined the final rankings.
